Lubrication Oil Leakage

Symptoms: oil stains or dripping oil at bearing end covers, sealing faces, housing joints, inspection windows, etc.

Possible Causes:

Seal failure: oil seal aged, worn, hardened (due to high temperature), or lip damaged.

Housing issues: joint sealant failure or gasket damaged; cast housing porosity or cracks.

Blocked venthole: during operation, internal temperature and pressure rise. If the venthole is blocked, pressure will forces oil out through weak sealing points.

Over‑lubrication: oil level too high, causing excessive churning and increasing leak risk.

Recommended Actions

Clean the leak area to pinpoint the exact source.

Replace worn or broken oil seals or gaskets.

Clear or clean the venthole.

Adjust oil level to the range marked on the dipstick/level gauge (typically the middle line).
