Temperature Rise

Symptoms: housing temperature exceeds the ambient temperature by 70°C , or feels too hot to touch.

Possible Causes:

Lubrication issues: oil level too high or too low; used wrong grade or degraded oil; excessive contaminants in the oil.

Overload: actual load exceeds the reducer’s rated capacity.

Mechanical friction: bearing damage, abnormal gear meshing (improper backlash), leading to increased internal friction.

Environmental factors: high ambient temperature, poor ventilation or heat dissipation (e.g., surface covered with dust or oil).

Recommended Actions:

Check oil level and oil condition; replace with the correct lubricant if necessary.

Verify that the load is within the rated range.

Inspect bearings and gear condition.

Ensure adequate ventilation around the gearbox and clean off any surface dirt.
